The Australian Rose Breeder's Association was formed in 1992 with the purpose of enabling amateur rose breeders to share information, ideas and experiences. The Association produces a quarterly newsletter "The Rose Breeder".  This is full of easy to read articles, from getting started (the beginner, where you just plant your self-pollinated rose hips), to the real scientific level. Some of you may like to carefully plan a breeding program, to take on the challenge of breeding your unique Rose! There are several Australian bred roses for sale, many of which may already be growing in your garden now, varieties such as 'Marjorie Atherton' and 'Our Rosamond', bred by Ron Bell, 'Lorraine Lee', bred by Alister Clark, 'Annie's Song', bred by Ian Spriggs and 'Flemington Racecourse' bred by Bruce Chapman. Ron Bell has produced a fantastic booklet on all aspects of rose breeding which is available from the address below or through the Rose Society of Victoria. Just go to Publications for Sale. At only A$6.00 + postage, it is great value, as it contains all the information needed to create a new variety.
